Strobist: Joan

Posted on January 22nd, 2010 in Photography

As promised, here is the second model shots from the strobist class that hubby attended last December. I actually forgot to post these pictures already. Luckily, while I was searching for some files about insurance quotes I saw these pictures again and it came to mind that I haven’t posted about the second part yet. I think these shots were taken at the instructor’s place in Makati. While the first part was shot inside the studio, this part was taken at the rooftop (or so I think).

I was wondering how tiring it is during a model shoot. With a lot of photographer students trying to take shots of a model, it may be kind of difficult to get all the shots you want. Aside from the fact that others have better equipments than the rest. Maybe it’s part of what he should learn too?

He’s so looking forward to another strobist class. I don’t know why but he’s so fond at taking portrait shots. Unlike me who wants to simply just capture the moment, he wants everything directed, planned and perfectly captured. Oh well, he’s still on the learning process so I can’t just simply think he’ll be like that forever. Things can change and who knows, he’ll be better even before I knew it.

Stress Buster: Hobby

Posted on November 5th, 2009 in Personal

Proven-effective stress buster is to do things that you love to do. Even if it’s tiring, you will feel relaxed and free from all those worries.

Today, I was able to complete a couple of mini kits for the International Digital Scrapbooking Day. I’ve completed 3 collaboration kits for December, 3 blog train minis and a couple of quick pages. I’ve done absolutely everything that needs to be completed before November 21. Ahhh, relief!

Yeah, had a little backache but I ended up satisfied. I plan to take some time off from wedding coordination and I think this will be a better substitute. I love weddings but the time it needs conflict with my job and I can’t always get time off from the office to attend to it. My 2 remaining weddings will be my last.

Today is another day – in a very stressful environment called “office”.

I Am Totally Hooked

Posted on September 4th, 2009 in Family, Personal

With everything I am doing!

As you can see, there are a few posts here. I must admit, I haven’t been updating this blog as frequently as before. I am still adjusting my time between work, home, blogging and digital scrapbooking. Not to mention, I also have weddings to take care of!

Sigh! It’s tiring but I am very very happy!

At Work

I have improved, compared to my first 2 years in the company. I seldom take leave now, even though I am so tired and restless. I go to the office everyday with hubby who just started to learn how to drive. I get my work done and I accomplish a lot of things. Very much happy that my boss is happy that I am there working for the project. I’ve been through a terrible situation way back June and I almost lost the battle. It isn’t over yet and I am still struggling, trying to prove to everyone that I will not be faltered by that incident and that I will redeem myself.

At Home

I’m still a mom. I still give time to my kids and sometime they demand that I take care of them. I don’t cook now (glad that my sis-in-law does it). The kids are growing and I don’t want to be missing their growing up years so despite of being busy, I have to be with them too! We seldom go out. Despite having a car now, I still have to manage the budget and be able to pay the bills on time. I assume you know what I am talking about :)

On Blogging

This is were I slack off recently. And I think I have to improve. My page rank is still intact and I don’t want to ruin it. I’ve worked so hard for it and I am actually planning on running a contest for my birthday and oh I need sponsors! If you want to become one, let me know. I am looking for cash donations and ad spots!

On Scrapbooking

I took a little break from traditional scrapbooking. It’s too expensive for me and I don’t want to compete with the expenses my husband is spending for his hobby. I continued digital scrapbooking though and I became a creative team members for 3 designers and I have become a site CT for My Life and Scraps. I get kits for free in return so I spend less :) There’s been a lot of improvements on my scrap blog and I have very happy about it. Visit me there and you’ll find out why I am so busy :)

On Weddings

I have 2 weddings on schedule – January and May 2010. I am so looking forward to it. The latter is a Full Coordination so I am still working every month on getting things done with her suppliers and vendors.

It’s an overall happy experience to be needed and be appreciated. I have never felt like this in my entire life and even though I wanted to take a break, I can’t do so because I know others are already depending on me and I must not disappoint them.

What about you? What’s keeping you busy? And how do you handle your responsibilities?

My Stress Buster?

Posted on June 14th, 2009 in Personal

Well, aside from blogging and scrapbooking, I indulged in pampering myself. And after that “fateful Thursday” last week, I just want to get my hair permed!

Ok, just got it set though. My friends in the parlor told me that my hair just got colored a couple of months ago and that it will get dry with perming. And besides, I  may not look better with curls. So, to satisfy my urge on having those hollywood curls – they set my hair and voila – curls to go!

Just take a look…I even made a scrap out of it :)

Your thoughts on me getting those curls? LOL!

Scrapping and Blogging

Posted on May 20th, 2009 in Blog And Money, Scrapbooking

Over the last five years, I have seen friends write about almost everything and post it in their blog (friendster, blogspot, livejournal, etc). It was not my piece of cake back then. Looking back, I thought it was just a waste of time. I had always thought that all the journal entries will be off for nothing since no one will read them. I never thought that blogs are really meant to be read and that you have to spread and inform the whole world about it. I couldn’t care less.

But the blogosphere turned out differently. Blogs do not only mean web journal. Now, it means more – page rank, traffic, and even additional source of income. A blogger must maintain good statistics of his blog and maintain readership. And what has changed the most? I became a part of it :)

Scrapbooking is another hobby but I never thought that I would become indulged in it. I have always been an admirer of the art and I do appreciate the creations of people who have spent time looking into every details of their layout but to actually do it, is something that I find very fulfilling. When I did my first layout, I thought it was addicting…and yeah, it was! I have now joined 2 communities (1 digiscrapping and 1 paper scrap) so I could learn more techniques. Those who want to join me, below is a site where you can download freebies to start off. It helped me a lot.
