Posted on October 22nd, 2011 in Home and Shopping

Being a mom is by no means an easy task. There are schedules to manage, dinners to design, and a social life to keep active – which can be fairly hard to keep straight at times. To help us better manage our lives, many of us reach for our smartphones. Not only do they keep us connected with other busy moms, but they also have tons of great apps that can help you keep your schedules and budget in line. So whether you have an iPhone or one of the latest LG Phones, these apps are great for any mom-on-the-go:

Grocery Gadget
If you are one of those mom’s that makes a list for the grocery store only to leave it on the counter, then the Grocery Gadget App is for you. The app lets you manage various grocery lists, as well as recipes, so that you always know what to buy.

Epicurious
Epicurious is a great app for moms that like to try out new recipes for dinner. Cooking the same dinners every night can become boring, and lead to complaints. But with this recipe app, you can find new recipes to try and plan your dinner whether you are at the grocery store or watching a soccer practice.

WebMD Mobile
Kids seem to get hurt and come down with various illnesses at the drop of a hat. With the WebMD mobile app, you are able to help determine what your child is coming down with or the best remedy for any scrapes or cuts. The app can also help you determine if your child’s symptoms are severe enough for a doctor’s office visit.

Coupon Sherpa
While becoming an extreme couponer will take excessive time and dedication, using the Coupon Sherpa app can allow you to still coupon without wasting your time. The app allows users to locate coupons from the stores they regularly use, and then allows cashiers to scan them right off their phones. No need to cutting coupons or hunting down papers.

Mint.com
Mint is a great way for any mom to keep her budget balance. With Mint you can sync up all of your bank accounts, and allocate how much money you would like to spend on different categories each month – such as food, clothing, entertainment. Mint will then alert you when you are getting close to maxing out your budget, as well as a detailed spending list for each month.

An app may not be able to completely manage your life, but combining the use of a few of them can definitely make it easier. Simply scour through a couple of the app stores that are available to you, and see if you can’t come across a few apps that, in addition to the above, make your life a little less hectic.

Now on its 5th year, the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs Writing Project continues to seek and recognize new and emerging blogs that are making great impact on their readers. Here are ten new blogs that have made such an impact on me.

My Green Living Ideas

Enjoining everyone to turn green and to help save Mother Earth, this blog by Ria never runs out of green living tips. Mother Earth is the only habitable planet we have and it is imperative for us to do our part in protecting it from destruction. Through her blog, Ria provides us with plenty of ideas for green living and more environment-friendly alternatives to products we have been using.

My Painted Lips

Like most women who’ve suddenly found themselves lugging around baby bags with wipes, diapers, and other baby stuff instead of dainty handbags with the latest beauty products, I have also meandered into the role of mother, wife and househelp. With the many roles I play, time for beauty rituals is virtually non-existent. Pehpot, the woman behind My Painted Lips, inspires me to stay beautiful despite the countless chores that need to be done at home. A swipe of lipstick is all I need to feel good and beautiful and perform my many roles with a smile on face.

The Pepperrific Life

Being a wife and a mother is not an easy task. Let alone being a mother raising a child all on her own. But all this Pepper takes in stride and this is evident in how she injects humor in her blog posts. She may be young still but her insights are rich and I do learn a lot about life and motherhood from her.

Levyousa

Need some positive vibes to make you forget about the many worries that beset you in the homefront? Levy’s blog is sure to put a smile on your face. Her cheerful demeanor is reflected in her humorous posts. When I find myself stressed and fatigued, I go visit her blog to de-stress and re-charge.

The Tottering Mama

Here’s one proud mom who shares the many activities they do at home and outdoors with their toddlers. Olga chronicles the development of her two toddlers and shares tips and ideas for keeping children busy at home. Aside from these, there are also free printable worksheets that are most useful to parents who have young children.

The Bloggers Journal

I’ve been blogging for quite some time already but I find that there is still much to learn about this craft. The Bloggers Journal is a very informative site that provides me with more knowledge. Willa presents tutorials for many different blogging applications. Her instructions are easy to understand and are not intimidating to those who are not technically inclined.

Notepad Corner

It really is very difficult to juggle the many roles I play at home but Mommy Joy makes it easier to handle all that needs to be done with her many valuable tips about running the house, being a mother, and being a housewife. She really is an expert in her field.

Certified Foodies

I’m a visual person and have better comprehension when pictures accompany whatever it is I’m trying to learn. Mhel and Ken provide clear photos of every procedure in their recipes making it easy for me to follow each step. They also make my mouth water with the visually enticing pictures of gastronomic delights they recommend to their readers.

Mommy Survival

Ellen equips us moms with the tools (and tricks) to survive the jungle that we call home. Motherhood really is the toughest job ever and we all need help and support from other moms. Through Mommy Survival, I learn how to keep tough and keep things organized here at home.

Mom Writes

If I were to choose a most influential blogger, Mommy Rubz would be on top of the list. She has helped many bloggers make a mark for themselves through her many blogs and hosting services. Here at Mom Writes, she shows us another facet – that of being a proud mom and dutiful wife. Read her blog and be blessed with her stories about overcoming life’s obstacles and being thankful for the blessings you receive.

Being Fashionable

Posted on July 7th, 2011 in Home and Shopping

Women love to DRESS UP. A woman started to learn how to dress up when she was young and on the process of becoming a lady. Remember those times when they asked their moms for a Barbie Doll and extra dresses? Yes, those were the times they have started to learn how to be fashionable. Dressing up their Barbie Dolls with different clothes and paired with different shoes and bags. Those were the times and when they grew up they dress up according to what they feel and think that they look good into.

Some women love to wear cocktail and Sunday dresses, some often wears pantsuits and jeans, while some loves to wear t-shirts paired with shorts. Whichever is comfortable and suits for the season, women wore it. One great creation that is getting into the women’s taste right now is thermal clothing. Being comfortable is the number one reason for a woman to wear something, fashion comes next. The rainy days are coming up and thermal clothing is in. Aside from the comfort and warmth that it provides, some clothes designers are making their thermal clothing a fashionable one to wear.

Men will not understand how or why women dress up but they love to see their wives/girlfriends in dresses that they look more beautiful than ever. Women will always keep up with the fashion styles every decade and they will always look good in whatever they choose to wear as long as they have self confidence and have faith that what they are wearing looks good on them.
