Being Fashionable

Posted on July 7th, 2011 in Home and Shopping

Women love to DRESS UP. A woman started to learn how to dress up when she was young and on the process of becoming a lady. Remember those times when they asked their moms for a Barbie Doll and extra dresses? Yes, those were the times they have started to learn how to be fashionable. Dressing up their Barbie Dolls with different clothes and paired with different shoes and bags. Those were the times and when they grew up they dress up according to what they feel and think that they look good into.

Some women love to wear cocktail and Sunday dresses, some often wears pantsuits and jeans, while some loves to wear t-shirts paired with shorts. Whichever is comfortable and suits for the season, women wore it. One great creation that is getting into the women’s taste right now is thermal clothing. Being comfortable is the number one reason for a woman to wear something, fashion comes next. The rainy days are coming up and thermal clothing is in. Aside from the comfort and warmth that it provides, some clothes designers are making their thermal clothing a fashionable one to wear.

Men will not understand how or why women dress up but they love to see their wives/girlfriends in dresses that they look more beautiful than ever. Women will always keep up with the fashion styles every decade and they will always look good in whatever they choose to wear as long as they have self confidence and have faith that what they are wearing looks good on them.

Pay Your Way Through College

Posted on June 26th, 2011 in Economic Status

You feel as if you have been cut down to size with the way that bejeweled lady looked at you from the supermarket aisle. She may be a millionaire swimming in cash, but what she doesn’t realize is that you, with your thirst for knowledge and desire to finish college, are just as important as she is.

If you have just stepped out of high school and are dreaming of a college education, you can stop dreaming and start making it a reality. Even if things seem to be in dire straits because of your mom and dad’s economic situation, paying for college is still possible.

If you have diligently hit the books in your high school years, then you might be lucky enough to qualify for scholarship grants. A scholarship grant is an excellent way to help finance your college dreams, as they can fully pay for your education, provided you follow some set guidelines. These scholarships are either academic, athletic, or funded by the government. Some institutions may even deem you eligible for an employment pledge which guarantees you a job right after you get that college degree under your belt. You could consult your high school adviser for suggestions.

If you must pay for your pursuit of higher education, try looking around for fairly cheap colleges. Just make sure that the university you choose doesn’t scrimp on quality education despite the affordability of its tuition. You could consider going to a community school instead. Here, good education can cost you as little as $60 per credit hour, instead of the usual $800 per credit hour which other colleges charge.

It wouldn’t hurt, of course, to get a part time job. You get to hone your skills and fatten your wallet at the same time.

A New Day at Daybreak

Posted on June 26th, 2011 in Uncategorized

Whenever you hear the work “daybreak”, you are always reminded of the promise of a new day. Everything new and fresh comes to mind. Daybreak in Utah lives up to its name by providing a deserving family with a roof above their heads, through the help of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The Daybreak community in Utah has been included in the list of communities to be featured in this popular TV series. This time, Rio Tinto, the developers of Daybreak works together with the construction team of Holmes Homes to build a house, from the ground up, for a family in need. They are going to finish the home in a week.

The lucky beneficiary of a new home in Daybreak will be the family of Jonah Gomez, a 7-year old boy with two rare blood disorders. Currently, he and his family live with relatives in Taylorsville, Utah.

With the New Home community in Daybreak, there’s nothing more the Gomez family could ask for. More than having a new home modeled after their lifestyle, everything they’ll ever need is a mere stone’s throw away. Since the business establishments in Daybreak are within a few steps of each other, mom can drop off the kids to school, and then dash off to the bank and make a quick stop at the nearby Laundromat. Things couldn’t be more convenient for them as Daybreak’s TRAX light rail service gives the family direct access to the hospital where Jonah is being treated.

Construction of the Gomez’ abode began on June 23rd. and the Daybreak episode on Extreme Makeover airs this fall. Keep your eyes peeled and be there as the dawn of a new day unfolds for this family.

Time out for mom

Posted on June 20th, 2011 in Friends, Of Being Me, Personal

I haven’t counted the days, or weeks, or months. I can hardly remember the last time I went out on a date with my girl friends. It seems like ages since I last saw my closest buds.

I guess, that accounts for my crankiness these days. I feel like I’m a prisoner here at home, slaving away on my online work while juggling household chores. I feel I should get out more, to take a breather from the humdrum of my daily existence. Sure, my husband and kids inspire me, but it would be nice and healthy if I got away from it all, even for just a few hours each week.

All work and no play makes anyone dull. That includes us work-at-home moms. We deserve a hard-earned day off too. We don’t really have to spend a fortune to have a good time. A simple afternoon get together over cake and coffee with the girls would be more than enough to rejuvenate our tired spirits. If you find yourself in the same predicament as I am, go out there and schedule a quick getaway with your friends. Your family will ultimately benefit from the better mood you’ll be in.

Sick days are here again…

Posted on June 20th, 2011 in Of Being Me, Personal, Sick

I’m feeling a little under the weather today. I can blame that on the incessant rains which have hit this city for the past few days. At some point between grocery shopping yesterday and the urge to strangle my neighbor’s neck with a network cable because of his extra loud home theater system, I must’ve caught on some sort of virus. I remember waking up in the middle of the night, and I was having the chills.

What to do on days like this? Rest, of course, drink lots of water, and try to keep negative thoughts at bay. I guess, more than anything, it’s my occasional pessimism that gets to me, and eventually takes its toll on my health. The mind is so powerful that it has the ability to dictate how our body responds to external stimuli.

I know I do need more sleep. After this post, I will try to catch a few Z’s, just to help me recharge.
