On Protecting Children from Mosquitoes

On certain occasions, I admit to imagining that I have a glowing halo on top of my head, and that I have grown a pair of white, feathery wings. Yes, call me crazy but I sometimes wish I were an angel who constantly keeps a close eye on my kid. I guess it’s pretty safe to say that all moms, rich or poor, want only the best for their kids

It should come as no surprise then that I was only too ecstatic to have been introduced to Guard Insect Repellent lotion. Our paths crossed for the first time at Sean’s birthday party. He’s the son of my blogger friend Jade of MommaWannabe. Guard Insect Repellent lotion happened to be one of the prizes given away during the games, and to say the least, my curiosity was piqued.

Reading and Your Child

It goes without saying that reading is important in your child’s mental and overall development. We parents are well aware of the importance of reading. It opens up a whole new world of learning, both inside and outside the four walls of the classroom. It enriches one’s thought process, making him grow up to be a more well-rounded person. If only it were that easy to get our kids to read, though…

With all the forms of technology and entertainment available at his disposal, it seems but natural for your kid to choose these over books. But as a parent, you can do something to get him interested in reading:

Be an example. How will your kid be interested in books if he hardly sees you pick up a paperback? Lead, and he will follow.

Keep TV time to a minimum. Instead, spend time reading good books. Find your kid some interesting reading material, maybe topics related to his hobbies like basketball or drawing.

There are more ways to cultivate an interest in reading in your child. Before you know it, he’ll be climbing those two step stools, eagerly reaching for a book high up in your shelves…

Life as a working mom is like a chaos, well, sometimes. It is also like an endless whirlpool, especially when workloads and deadlines consumes most of your time. On your days off, you still cannot rest because you need to attend to your family and household chores. Even if you wanted to visit a parlor or a body spa center or your favorite leisure places like bingo house, you cannot. Your mind says “Yes,” but your body says “No” because you’re too tired to get out of the house and spend hours playing.

New Family Addition

It was a bit late to be blogging about it, but I am really really happy to share that we have new addition to the family! No, I did not get pregnant, my two sisters are. That means, it’s not just one but two new family members! I have 2 nieces this year and I am very proud and delighted to welcome them to the family. I bet this little cutie will be just as perfect for them.

I found it at Shari’s baby bazaar today. Ain’t it just the cutest? Love love it to pieces and am sure the little girls will too! Can’t for to see them hugging it!

Time for New Glasses

Being born prematurely resulted to some concerns for my little girls – their eyesight for instance. It was a bit late when I noticed that they were having problems because I was working then. When I resigned and stayed at home, that’s when I found out that they were having difficulty seeing things clearly like when they are watching television. It is prominent to the younger twin. And so we had them checked and they started wearing glasses.

It has been a year now and just as my mom would wear her reading glasses every morning, so are my girls. They got used to wearing it and eventually can’t do without it. And while it’s not yet a year, we had to change them early, they did pretty good in testing its durability and it gave up on them.

So we’re now off to the ophthalmologist for a new prescription and then to the optical shop. Will post some photos soon!
