If the nature of your work is starting to bore you out of your wits, it might be a good idea to open this up with your boss (without sounding as if you’re complaining), as he or she could come up with new ways to motivate you. If it’s challenge you want, you can probably ask your boss to give you more tasks which stimulate your intellect, and help put your talents to good use.

Try to build a good relationship with your co-workers. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should tell them all your deepest, darkest secrets, just to be friends with them. During your office coffee breaks, for instance, just engage them in flippant conversation as you stand by the water cooler. These brief breaks from your tedious work can surprisingly be refreshing.

Tomorrow, I will have another check up to verify if I am already fit to work. Well, despite being discharged and staying home for the whole week, I still feel a bit lightheaded and weak. The cough is still troublesome and my throat got worst too. I have completed my antibiotics but it doesn’t seem to have any effects at all!

I hate getting sick. It’s just too uncomfortable and even the easiest task that I normally do becomes a burden. Oh, I hope to get well really soon. This cough is really icky and I can no longer stand the sore throat!

We haven’t planned any family outing this year and I haven’t talked to my sisters lately so I am really sure if there will be one in the next couple of weeks. But I don’t really need to be out of town or go out on an outing just to rest – for sure it will even tire me out. I wanted to – just be able to sleep soundly, not worry about my work, not bothered by the deadlines I have to meet. I just want to be free from stress – and that I can consider it….another form of rest LOL!

The only thing that’s keeping me sane is having some time with my naughty little princesses and scrapping some photos, designing kits and being in my online digital scrapbook communities. I don’t earn much from my kits right now, but I tell you, I am happy to see people loving my designs, creating LOs from them and printing them as keepsakes. That, in itself is happiness. And I intend to improve my designs even more.

As I was handling my old clearance copy, it did not occur to me that I had my maiden name in there. So I kindly asked the lady if they will be able to track that I have already made the necessary status change in 2006, they said not – and that they will only depend on the copy I have with me. I asked again, if I can just cancel my application and get my P115 back, they said NOT because they have already issued a receipt. OMG!!! Only in the Philippines!

Another odd scenario happened when hubby finally got his clearance (2 copies), his name was misspelled! When we checked, it was mistakenly coded when he got his very first clearance but he never noticed it until Monday. Now, we have to go to the nearest NBI office to get his name corrected. Tuesday, we went to our Municipal office – they have an NBI office there. We were there 7AM because we knew that the office would open at 8AM. And to our shock, there were already hundreds of people outside the hall and we barely made it for their daily cut off. We were included in the 5th batch of processing. We were there 7AM and our documents were processed at around 2PM. And here’s the worst, the clearance won’t be released until another day! Another OMG!!!! We waited the whole day in there, waiting for the day to pass while seeing a nearby house owner change his pond filters only to be told that we have to come back. It was terribly disappointing. I just don’t understand why there is a need to ask for us to come back when they already knew we have wasted a day to process that single document.

I am not sure if the oldies in the Municipal Hall doesn’t want improvement. They could’ve made use of existing technologies to make life easier for everyone. But my guess would be, they are afraid to use it not because they don’t know how to but because they are afraid that when everything gets automated, they would lose their jobs. With all the people lining out there, some are new applications, some renewal, some are correction of entries, they don’t have a proper system. They were numbering the people in batches but they don’t have a specific number for the individuals – just plain batch numbers. So – every 50 heads get the same batch number, just that. And by the way, you’ll have to guess what batch are they currently processing each and every moment LOL!

And so, we went back early Wednesday morning at 8AM. And yes, they never cease to amaze us LOL! The office people waited for 9AM before they released the clearances! OMG again and again. After we got our documents, we checked it thoroughly to ensure there won’t be a single mistake again. I won’t come back to renew in that office again.

So far, I’d still prefer getting my renewal at SM Megamall office – the line is really long but the processing will only take you 5-10 minutes and after that you’re all set (if you don’t have issues).

But I am having 100% fun and I am 100% fulfilled!

You may ask why I have most time for work. Primarily, I am the lone support of more than 300 resources in 2 countries. I am on-call 24X7 and I can even be required to get up from sleep in times of issues (trouble is our term, technically). That doesn’t mean I prioritize work over my children. Just that, I am demanded to work more even at home and I am happy to have my work.

I just feel…. blessed!

Others are complaining about work. How tiresome it is and how difficult it is. But I guess, I just came to realize its importance early this January. It was my wake up call. Several years have passed and I work not knowing what it is really for? I thought I always had my mom to help me should I have financial issues. I kept looking for answers and I found none. This year, God gave me the answer. When the economic crisis hit the globe and affected a lot of people, I saw thousands of employees lost their jobs. My mom’s business was even affected. Others are looking for ways to keep their jobs but still aren’t fortunate enough to keep it. And there was I, still looking for answers? When I saw my co-employees packing things and preparing to leave the office with their gloomy faces, I knew my work was important. And I knew I was important, because I am still here. And from then on, I learned to love my job and I learned to value the things that I have.
