Health Care
As a general term, health care refers to the delivery of medical services by various specialist providers including doctors, nurses, midwives, home health aides, physician’s assistants and vaccination technicians. The services performed by health care practitioners involve preventive care, diagnosis, prescribing and administration of required medicine, observation, surgery, vaccination and childbirth-related services. In essence, health care jobs are those related primarily to the treatment and prevention of disease and illness.
Aside from those already mentioned above, the list of health care jobs may now include physical therapists usually assigned in the rehabilitation department of hospitals, nurse assistants who are expected to efficiently perform routine and repetitive but important tasks, and support services associates who take charge of registering and interviewing patients in connection with establishing medical records and relevant non-medical information. Health educators perform the job of planning, implementing and conducting public health education programs. The allied health industry is continuously growing and opening up more opportunities for those eying health care jobs.
It is interesting to note that majority of health care job vacancies are not advertised in regular channels. Job seekers should be more innovative in their job search by checking online job listings, directories, job fairs and association announcements.
