The Door
If you are a fan of horror flicks you’ll definitely recognize the creaking door sound effect as one of the hallmark sound effects. It does give that nostalgic feeling of eeriness and does complement horror flicks, though you can’t say the same when the same happens in your house. It’s annoying and gets irritating with repetition. This is often caused by a faulty or an inappropriate door hinge. There are several types of hinges used depending on the door’s weight and size or location of the door E.g. a bathroom door will most often have anti rust qualities which can only carry a light load since most bathroom doors will be made out of composite or plastic materials to withstand moisture and water better. While a hinge for your main door would be built with much more sturdier materials such as thick stainless steel with anti corrosion treatments to hold heavy wooden doors which can withstand the outdoor elements.
You can get rid of hinges all together and adopt a sliding door which the Japanese made so popular. They are a bit harder to install but they save valuable room space, which is becoming a prime commodity in a vertical designed community. i.e. condominiums, hotels, etc.
