Skin Conscious

Posted on February 15th, 2010 in Of Being Me

Reality really bites. My pimples are here again, coming out of my cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, and even scalp. It’s making me irritated. It came back after I stopped using my OCP.

I had pimples kinda late. Normal teenagers get pimples by age 13, or 15 but me, I started having one at age 19. The first pimple I had made me absent for 3 days from the university. You could imagine my disappointment back then. Only one and it’s already killing me out of shame. But somehow, I came to accept the fact that more are surfacing and that I can no longer deny that I am having a major pimple outbreak. I never tried everything back then for I believe that maintaining a clean face has always been a solution. I never used anything on my face. I am such a pathetic believer. LOL!

The pimples did not stop coming and until I am already working, it’s still there. When I was about to get married, I decided I’d consult a dermatologist because even the best acne face wash is giving up on me. And then I discovered Clinica Dermatologica by Dra. Isabel Lopez-Nazal. She was very kind and thoughtful and whenever she’s in the clinic, she made sure to touch base with her clients. That’s what I love about her. My skin was treated for 6 months continuously and I was glowing the day I got married. It was worth every penny.

After I gave birth, I took oral contraceptive pills to avoid pregnancy and the pill made wonders to my skin. I did not have a single pimple for 3 years and I only need to moisturize, no cleansers, no toners, just plain moisturizer and I love it. But then, I had to give up the OCP after 3 years due to some misconception about the medicine. Arrrgghhh, the pimples came back in no time and it’s such a pain to see myself in the mirror every single day.

I had a check with my OB-Gyne the other day and she said it’s ok to continue the OCP so I might. I wanted to gain that clean look on my face again. :p
